The star-nosed moles can be easily identified by its snout that has 22 fleshy tentacles which they use to identify food by touch. They are also covered with thick, blackish brown, water-repellant fur and large, scaled feet and a long, thick tail. They are often found in eastern Canada and northeastern United States. It lives in wet lowland areas and eats small invertebrates, aquatic insects, worms, molluscs, small amphibians and small fish.
Living at extreme depths, and among the rarest of octopuses, the Dumbo octopus gets its name from its ears which loosely resemble those of the Disney character, Dumbo .
The Axolotl or Mexican salamander is a neotenic mole salamander, closely related to the tiger salamander. The species originates from numerous lakes underlying Mexico City, such as Lake Xochimilco.
