Saiga Antelope

The saiga antelope originally inhabited the vast area of the Eurasian steppe zone from the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains and Caucasus into Dzungaria and Mongolia. Today, they can only be found in Russia and Kazakhstan since they have been critically endangered.

Saigas form very large herds that graze in semi-desert steppes, eating several species of plants, including some that are poisonous to other animals. They usually stands between 0.6–0.8 m (1 ft 10 in–2 ft 7 in) at the shoulder and weighs about 36-63 kg (79 and 140 lb). The horned males are larger than the hornless females.
